Tomorrow I’m off to Houston for a few days, but thought I might post a few bits before I go…

A couple more Halloween packages arrived.

Erin’s 23rd day:

What it contained:

  • Snap bag
  • Kylie bookmark
  • Small finished box (painted and lined)
  • Skeleton
  • Stamp/pencil/candy (not shown)

Mary Jane’s 25th day:

What it contained:

  • Patch pincushion
  • Braided floss tag
  • Bookmark
  • Costumed rubber duck
  • Stamp/pencil/candy (not shown)

Planning for next year has already begun.

The first official tease:

Progress on the Bernat Crochet-Along:

Clue 6 squares:

A couple more Clue 5 squares underneath.  I still have a few (::cough:: 8 ::cough::) left to do on that one.

New glasses ordered today!

  • It’s been two years since I’ve had new glasses
  • My frames are from Juicy Couture.
  • That took me a little bit to get over, I admit.  I’m a little old to be “Juicy”
  • They have a bit of retro cat-eye-shape.
  • I wish I’d thought to snap a pic.  🙁
  • I also ordered prescription sunglasses…. a first for me!
  • Ray-ban Wayfarer-style.  White with a way cool print.
  • Sadly, I also failed to think of “take a picture” for them as well.
  • These will be the last glasses for awhile….progressives are pricey!

Take care and I’ll see you after I get home on Sunday!

Buttons and Trims and Squares, Oh My!

More tiny buttons arrived on Friday….

And trim the day before that:

 Sorry for the craptastic picture.

The black is definitely Halloween-bound.  A bit of black perle and the purple/green/orange/yellow buttons will be right at home.

And a trip to Joann’s yesterday netted these:

The one in the center is ivory.  The top one I think will look nice with multi- colored buttons of different sizes.  As to the piece it will embellish….TBD. LOL

Finally, here’s the first five (of 16) squares for this week’s Bernat CAL Afghan

More Stuff to Post

I know, terribly creative post title LOL

This month’s TUSAL:

Lots in there this month.  Some fabric bits, yarn ends and kit leftovers.

I’ve started the Bernat Mystery Crochet-Along 😀

I’m not using the suggested yarn.  Instead, I’m using two strands of Caron’s Simply Soft and haven’t had any trouble with the gauge.  To be honest, I usually ignore gauge on crocheted afghans, but given these are squares that will eventually need to be sewn together, I crocheted my very first gauge swatch.

Here are the squares so far:

Clue 1 – light blue – Alternating single and double crochet

Clue 2 – dark blue – Granny square (had to get creative here to get to an 8″ square.  I added a round of single crochet around the edge to make up the half inch I was missing)

Clue 3 – green – V-stitch  (still have four more squares to do to complete this clue)

I also have white and light grey for my color palette.

Still owe a progress picture for my Masquerade start, but I’ll hold on to that until later in the weekend 🙂
