Fifty Pounds

(Full disclosure.. it’s 49.8)

It’s taken a little longer to make this milestone, but given as this isn’t a race nor is there a deadline, the fact that I’ve made it is far more important than the time it took!

It’s been a busy couple of months and while I have been diligent about tracking my meals and making good choices, I have been far less focused on getting in regular activity.  I believe that’s the primary reason it took me twice as long to lose this last ten pounds.  It’s also freakin’ hot here in Phoenix and if I don’t manage a walk in the morning, I just can’t handle the heat to do it in the afternoon or evening.

A couple weeks ago I did a major closet clear out.  The criteria was pretty easy.  If it was something I would wear to work and one of my friends would comment “that’s gotta go” then it went into the donation pile 😉  My friends at work can be brutally honest! LOL

I’m down to three pair of jeans that fit well, about eight shirts that have all been purchased in the last month and a lot of empty hangars.  I did keep some tshirts, but many have been relegated to lounging or sleep wear 🙂  I also kept some of my treasured print shirts (think “Hawaiian”).  They are technically too big, but it’s not nearly as obvious as all the ones I got rid of!  They were also too small when I started this adventure in January, so we’ll see when they get the dreaded thumbs down from my friends and family.

Even though the scale is still moving in the right direction, I’ve realized that I don’t *feel* like I’m making the same progress.  It took awhile, but I believe the issue is that once again, I’m wearing clothes that fit.  For the last six months, I’ve spent at least half my time in jeans and shirts that are one or two sizes too big (just trying to avoid the shopping, nothing more).  It’s easy to feel the progress when the clothes are falling off!!  Now that I’ve purged all but the items that truly fit, it’s less noticeable to me.

I suppose I just need to get the current wardrobe to the same point 🙂

  13. Congratulations! I have lost 25 lbs so far and my pants were falling off me. I also use my co-workers to judge what I should wear. I bought 2 new pairs of pants and the rest I cheat and have been using safety pins to keep up. Hoping to lose another 10 lbs (in the right places). It is weird where some of the weight came off of. (like my face).
