Stitching, knitting, reading, life…whatever catches my eye

Progress

Here is Lindsay’s UFO as I’m sending it off tomorrow (where it started):

I also finished the stitching for a Biscornu exchange from the Hooked on Exchanging group.  Can’t show that for obvious reasons….but it looks very nice 🙂

I picked up my framed Emerald Mermaid yesterday:

(Click for a larger picture)

She’s gorgeous.  Unfortunately I learned that my framers are retiring next year 🙁  I’ve got to take advantage of the time I have left with them!  Heaven knows what it will take for me to find comparable service.  They are absolutely wonderful.

I’m almost done with Curse of Chalion.  I ordered the next two books in the series Friday when I realized I was close to finishing and didn’t have them ready to go.  Love love love this book!  Thank you, Kate!  It’s my “van” book so getting more time than the others I’m reading.  A Curse Dark as Gold (my, a theme) is my “bedtime” book so I can savor the story.  It’s one of those that if I read it thru in a day (which I could, it’s that good) I’d sit and be disappointed it was over….

Kids are now addicted to  Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.  K has beat it on easy already and is working thru on medium.  Z does pretty well on several tracks (well, at least better than Mom does). I am waiting anxiously for Patapon.  I beat the demo quickly and can’t wait for the full version.

  1. Your Emerald Mermaid is stunning!! I can’t express how wonderful it is! I am considering stitching this piece, what kind of fabric did you use, what are the supplies?

Who is your framer that is closing, please tell me it isn’t Nick’s Frameshop. That’s where I go, if it isn’t him, you will be pleased with his work and timeframes, I always get mine back in 8 days. See my blog for some of his work. Here is the link to one:http://tajinaz.blogspot.com/2007/04/framed-rainbow-row.html

  2. Your Emerald Mermaid is absolutely gorgeous! Wow! I really want to stitch some of the Mirabilia mermaids, but they never quite make it to the top of the ‘to do’ list.

  3. You’re welcome. I love Bujold. Once you get through with that series, you’ll almost certainly love her new series (Sharing Knife) which is her romantic fantasy. Then, I’m a huge Vorkosigan series fan, but that one may be harder to get into, but I find Cordelia’s Honor (good place to start the series) similar in tone to Curse of Chalion/Paladin of Souls with a more techie vibe.

  4. Emerald Mermaid is AWESOME!! And you did a lot on the UFO piece!

  5. I am looking at the charts for emerald mermaid online and I am seeing 2 different stitch counts. Can you tell me what the stitch count actually is?

  6. Emerald Mermaid look gorgeous, and you made some great progress on the UFO piece.
