Tangled Webs

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I started this book almost as soon as it arrived. Started on Thursday evening and thankfully could stay up as late as necessary on Friday night to finish this new installment of the Black Jewels series. It does reference events in the original Trilogy, so if you’re new to this marvelous world, I highly recommend you begin at the beginning with Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels Trilogy, Book 1).  I’ve read the series twice thru and ordered the trade paperback versions today (my regular paperbacks are showing a bit of wear) to read yet again.

I think I love Daemon even more after this book…… 😀

On a related note:

From Booking Through Thursday this week:

Who is your favorite Male lead character? And why?

I can’t limit to just one. I have three.

Daemon Sadi – (The Black Jewels Trilogy referenced above). He protects and serves completely. A fine description of a man!

Harry Dresden – (Dresden Files by Jim Butcher). There’s just something attractive about a man that can wield magic and wit with ease.

James Fraser – (Outlander by Diana Gabaldon).  Another strong man fiercely protective yet vulnerable due to complete devotion to his love.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

It’s interesting that you mentioned Diana Gabaldon and James Fraser. Someone else mentioned this character, and he certainly sounds interesting!

    Have a good weekend! 😀

  2. I mentioned Jamie Fraser, too. I think he’s an obvious pick because he’s such a romantic hero (that’s not a dig or anything, just that this was a hard question!).

I need to start the Dresden series. The Tour Manager adores it and is making me crazy, trying to get the books for him. It’s been a long time since he flipped over a series like this.

  3. You like Daemon even MORE?

I wanted to read this book before. Now I really want to read it. I just love Daemon and seeing him WITH Jaenelle in Dreams Made Flesh, rather than still working towards getting her (if you see what I mean) was wonderful. I can’t wait for more.

My copy is somewhere between the US and New Zealand and I’m hoping I might have it by the end of next week. Now I really can’t wait.

I’ve also got a group of friends lined up to borrow it after I finish it. 🙂

I didn’t do the SBQ about fav male characters, but I have to admit I’d have picked Daemon too.

  4. Bah, I meant BTT of course, not SBQ.

  5. Oh, wow! I didn’t realize that Tangled Webs was already out. (I will admit that I have been avoiding the bookstore because I know I have next to no self control once I walk into that beautiful place.) I am definitely going to have to go get that one. My paperback copies of the whole trilogy are rather worn as well but that might be because I have read them about 5-7 times each, since I bought them 4 years ago.

Daemon didn’t make my list (more from accidental omission than that he wouldn’t make the list) but I have to say that he is an amazing character. So strong and utterly in love with Jaenelle. He was a man who wasn’t afraid to be himself – a man who was strong and beautiful in that strength.
