Forty Pounds

As of this morning, I’ve lost 40 lbs since my Weight Watchers journey started in mid-January.

This past week I bought yet more new jeans.  These were four sizes smaller than what I was wearing in January and I can *really* tell the difference!  I’ve bought several new shirts in the last weeks as more often than not if I put on a shirt I owned before January, it’s just too large to wear to work!

Forty is a bit of a magical number for me on this journey.  It signifies that this is *real* and I’m in for the long term.  I’ve lost 20-30 lbs before (most recently when I was diagnosed with an odd assortment of food allergies and had to make big cuts in the foods I ate regularly) but it always manages to creep back on.  This time is a little different.  I haven’t actually stopped eating anything… just changed how much and how often.

I have noticed an energy increase.  A couple weeks ago DH suggested we go over to my Mom’s and swim.  Technically, he was suggesting it for himself and the kids which would have left me home alone…a rare event.  I didn’t think twice before digging out the bathing suit and packing a bag for all of us to go.  Last year at this time?  I’d have been home alone 😉

Since my 30 lb update, I’ve completed one challenge on weight watchers.com (On Plan Every Day in May) and signed up for the June version.  I’m walking a mile in the morning four days per week and when DH starts working (YAY!) I will up that to two miles (he will try to get in three miles before we leave for the office during the week).

It took me five months to lose 40 lbs.  I’m hoping I’ll have at least another 40 gone before the end of the year 🙂  Wish me luck!
