Sunday Swap – 10/6/2013

Good news:

I finished my Sulky experiment:

Attractive Opposites

Ink Circles Attractive Opposites (one of them)
32-ct Sage Jobelan
One strand Sulky 12-wt Blendables Merlot Blush

The verdict? I was thisclose to pulling out some 32 or 35 ct linen for Rosetta or Cirque de Cercles.  The thread was very easy to work with and has great coverage on the 32-ct fabric.  I love being able to simply cut off a length off the spool, thread a needle and be ready to go.  It’s also washable and colorfast which is a great thing when you’ve invested that much time and money into a project.

Not-so-Good News:

I did manage a bit more on Sleepy Hollow and added a few dozen stitches to Widow Black’s B&B.  Neither could hold my attention, though, as I was working on the Ink Circles piece.  It’s been a bit of a stressful week, so the simplicity of one color and a repetitive design was quite soothing.

I’ve no idea what I’m going to pick up this week.  Knit?  More x’s?  Back to Stars?  Don’t make me decide right now…

Thursday Thirteen: Surprise!

Yes, it’s a new post.

I know, surprising given it’s been four months since the last one.

But, as I was perusing the blogs, I follow, I found a Thursday Thirteen on Measi’s blog and it seemed like the perfect way to catch up and kick start the blog again.

Assuming there’s anyone left reading…. for anyone still here, thank you, and if not, that’s ok.

Onward and upward.. here we go:

Thursday Thirteen: The Last Four Months

1 – New job is going well.  It’s different, but I’m adapting.  Well, working on adapting.

2 – Have I mentioned how much I hate starting a new job?  Yeah, I still do.

3 – K graduated from ASU in May with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Cell, Developmental and Genetics).  Next step: lab certification to work in Arizona (yeah, she got that a touch backwards, but we love her anyway)

4 – Two trips to Virginia to meet my team.  The very best part of my new job – the team, not the travel.

5 – Also one trip to Tennessee for an amazingly, awesome, low-key, relaxing weekend.  Fabric and other stash was acquired.

6 – Enablement opportunities abounded.  I use my powers for good hexes. 🙂

7 – My mother-in-law is visiting (she came home with me from Tennessee) and I’m thinking we’ll have a new Arizona resident sometime next year.  Yay!

8 – The new banner (and new Facebook icon) is the latest K creation

9 – I had to beg.  She has a new beau who has been taking a lot of her time.  But, we like him, so I try not to complain.  Much.

10 – Attended my first Comic-con.  Memorial Day weekend here in Phoenix.  Oh. My. Gosh.  Spent four days at the Phoenix convention center.  A mere 4 hours on Thursday and 12-14 hours Friday thru Sunday (each day).  As a volunteer, I counted people, answered questions, fixed YouTube links in presentations and organized prizes.  I’ve never had more fun working so hard as I did that weekend.  I *cannot* wait until next year!!

11 – John Barrowman?  Best.  Hugger.  Ever. (Picture of a picture…that is now framed on my desk at home.  I hope he’s there next year so I can get it signed!)

12 – A wool applique finish – a little candlemat from Lumenaris

13- A stitching finish – Cackle by Raise the Roof Designs (along with new scissors and fob from my stitching weekend)

That’s the highlights for the last four months.  Hopefully it won’t be another four months before the next post 🙂
