This is just one way to finish a stitched bookmark.
Here's what you need:
- Stitched Bookmark (this is from Dinky Dyes' Shiraz Sampler - done in one of Jo's silks)
- Fabric for backing
- Sewing machine (yes, it can be done by hand, but I've used a machine for this one)
(Don't you love my ironing board cover? LOL)
First, press and trim your stitched piece and your backing fabric to the same size. I've left about an inch here. We'll trim it up in a bit.
Match right sides together.
Sew, leaving about a 1.5" (4cm) gap on one side for turning. I usually seam about a half inch from the edge of the stitching, but if you prefer closer, have at it!
Trim to about 1/4" (.5 cm) from the seam line and trim the corners at an angle for turning. Turn and blind stitch the opening.
Give it a press and you're done!
